InArkansas.com has recently promoted our own Hillcrest Farmer’s Market on it’s blog.  Click here to check it out!

From Joni Lee: We need extra help for Family Promise during Thanksgiving week.  We really need people on Friday, and Saturday afternoon of that week to be at church to host the guests.  The families will be at church all day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as far as we know (until we learn of any family plans they have).  Sandy and I will probably be pitching a tent as it is on those last few days and will no doubt have to be there for long durations so it would really help to get […]

Happy sparklers and all that is patriotic!!! Just a few reminders this week. Family Promise will complete their week with us Sunday morning. Our group will be serving 2 meals before then. Mike and I stayed with the families overnight last Sunday and I believe John was there last night. Think about volunteering next time. It’s not so bad….roll-a-way bed that makes funny noises for one night…not the sidewalk for weeks. You can do this!! The schedule says the children’s music program will be “Boomwhacker Blast” next Wednesday night. I think the pipe organ session […]

Dates and events to remember: Saturday–June 25th—Farmers Market continues. What have you eaten from the Market? I’m curious:) Everything I have had has been great—squash, strawberries, tomatoes, blueberries, bread, cheese…. Sunday–June 26–H Facilatates our study of Purpose Driven Life–Chapters 23-25. Whitney sings solo during church. Leann in usual role with Children’s sermon. There are no Deacon’s of the week nor Greeters of the week from the Combo this week—that is rare!!! Sunday–noonish–guests for Family Promise arrive. You might be needed to help set up rooms after church. We will be hosting 3 families. Sunday –evening–6:00 […]

Hello Everyone —   This is just a reminder that we start Family Promise week this Sunday, June 26.  Thank you to everyone who’s volunteered for a slot (or two…or three…thanks Judy) for the week.  This is our first week back since the hiatus last year, so hopefully we’ll all remember the routine!  A quick update:  there are three families in the network at present; three little boys who are all three years old (there you go, Beth), a nine-year old girl and twelve-year old boy, and four adults.  For those of you who are […]

Dear Friend of Family Promise: In addition to the news in the attached newsletter, we have two other items to pass along to you. 1. One of our former van drivers, Tom Ryan, has been helping us out while we re-established so many other things following the reopening. It is now time to look for a permanent van driver. To that end, would you please help us to get out the word by sending the following to those in your circle of friends and members of your church family? HELP WANTED: Van Driver for Family […]

With the business of June upon us, I wanted to remind everyone again about our upcoming week of hosting in Family Promise (formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network). Our week begins on Sunday, June 26. There are currently two families in the program, with I think five children and three adults. There may be additional ones before our week begins. I will have the board up this evening so you can see if there are times that you can fill in. For those of you who have already told me what you can do that week, thank […]

As most of you are aware, PHBC was in on the ground floorwith Interfaith Hospitality Network. I know pride goeth before afall, but I’ll use the p-word anyway. I’ve been proud that we werecharter members and helped pave the way for this fine program ofproviding housing for homeless families. As you are also aware, ithas not always been a seamless operation. IHN has gone throughsome difficult financial times, and had to shut down its operations for ten months. Back up and running, and having adopted the nationalorganization’s name, Family Promise of Pulaski County has hired […]
